✓ Recess Fit – Inside Frame

Mount the roller blind inside your window frame for a clean finish.

You’ll be mounting the roller blind brackets into the top corners of the recess. Ensure there are no obstructions that would prevent the roller blind from fitting. If you’ve got no fixings on the top of your frame and at least 50mm depth, you’re good to go!

A key point for recessed fit roller blinds is light control. As the blind sits within the recess, attached to two slim brackets, light will peak around the sides of the blind when it is closed. If you’re hoping to maximise light control with a blackout roller blind in a bedroom, we recommend mounting the blind on the face of your window frame or frameless window.

In three simple steps, you will be a pro in measuring for roller blinds!

Step 1- Check the depth

Get that measuring tape out and let’s go!

With your measuring tape, ensure there’s at least a 50mm depth between the window pane and front edge of your window frame. This is to ensure the roller blind brackets and blind can fit nicely within your frame. If you have window componentry like winders within the recess, ensure to front roll your roller blind to avoid contact.

If you have less than 50mm depth within your recess, we’d recommend a face fit mounted roller blind instead.

Step 2 – Measure the width
Measure the exact width, don’t worry about any deductions!

Using your measuring tape, measure the inside width of your window frame across the top. Your brackets will be installed at the exact width of your recess for the best light control and finish. Note down your width measurement.

Ensure to provide the exact recess width with no deductions; we’ll ensure the brackets and blind will fit perfectly.

Step 3 – Measure the height

The exact measurement from top to bottom!

Measure the height of your recess by taking the exact measurement from the top of the recess to the bottom. Note down your height measurement.

Step 4 – Chain Control side:

Decide which side the blind control will sit on!

Take note of which side you’d like the chain to be on. The chosen side should be free of obstructions and easy for you to access.

✓ Face Fit – Outside Frame

Mount on the frame of your window to maximise light control!

Face fit roller blinds provide a great option in covering your window and controlling the light around the sides of a blackout roller blind. Face fit mount for bedrooms provides the greatest coverage for blackout roller blinds. If your windows don’t have 50mm depth available and you have a window frame, then face fit is the way to go.

In three simple steps, you will be a pro in measuring for roller blinds!

Step 1- Measure the width

Measure the exact width of your window frame from edge to edge!

Using your measuring tape, measure the outside edge width of your window frame across the top. Your brackets will be installed on the exact edge of the window frame as a result. Note down your width measurement.

Step 2- Measure the height

Measure from the top of the window frame!

Measure the height by setting your measuring tape on the top edge of the window frame down to where you’d like you’re roller blind to finish. You can have the blind finish just below the window frame or further if you’d like. Note down your height measurement.

Step 3- Control side

Decide which side the blind control will sit on!

Take note of which side you’d like the chain to be on. The chosen side should be free of obstructions and easy for you to access.

✓ Frameless – No frame

Mount outside a frameless/square set window!

If your window has no frame, just a windowpane and a square set into the plaster, then we recommend these steps. Instead of mounting the roller blind within the frame or on the frame, you can have the blind mounted to the wall surrounding the frameless window.

In doing so, we recommend surrounding the frameless window with the blind by adding minimum 50mm to all sides; left, right, top & bottom for the perfect finish.

In three simple steps, you will be a pro in measuring for roller blinds!

Step 1- Measure the width

Measure the exact width of your window and add 50mm to each side!

Using your measuring tape, measure the outside width of your frameless window across the top. Add 100mm (50mm each side) to this measurement to ensure great coverage of your window. Note down your width measurement.

Step 2- Measure the height (Drop)

Measure the exact height of your window and add 50mm to top & bottom

Measure the height by setting your measuring tape on the top edge of the window down to where you’d like you’re roller blind to finish.

Ensure to finish the height measurement at least 50mm below the window. Add another 50mm to cover the top of the window, totalling 100mm for top and bottom. Note down your height measurement.

Step 3- Control side

Decide which side the blind control will sit on

Take note of which side you’d like the chain to be on. The chosen side should be free of obstructions and easy for you to access.
